Where is The Old Music Shop Restaurant located?

We’re at 3 North Frederick Street, Dublin 1, just off Parnell Square in the heart of the city. The entrance is just around the corner through the Castle Hotel at 1 Gardiner Row, Dublin 1.

What are your opening hours?

For Lunch / Afternoon Tea we serve daily from 12:00 – 16:00, and we serve breakfast for hotel guests from 7:00-10:30.

How do I book a table? Do you accept walk-ins?

You can reserve your table through our booking engine here or by calling us on +353 1 879 7888, or emailing at info@oldmusicshop.ie. Reservations are recommended as we are often busy. Walk-ins are accepted for regular dining when available. However, Afternoon Tea must be booked at least one day in advance. We do not generally accept walk-ins for Afternoon Tea but you can call us for availability at the time. 

What type of cuisine do you serve?

We serve modern Irish / contemporary European cuisine. Expect dishes ranging from hearty lunches and light bites to full dinners, alongside our popular Afternoon Tea options. Explore our menus here.

Do you accept card payments / which payment methods are accepted?

Yes, we accept major cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Google Pay and Apple Pay are accepted.

Is there parking or is the restaurant reachable by public transport?

There is on-street parking nearby (on Parnell Square, North Frederick Street, and Gardiner Row), and several public transport options nearby including Dublin Bus and Luas stops. We do not offer on-site parking.

Do you offer takeaway or delivery?

We offer “Afternoon Tea at home” package and lunches for collection.

Is the restaurant suitable for families / children?

Yes, children are welcome. Highchairs are available, and a children’s option is offered for our Kids Afternoon Tea menu.

What transport is available to get there?

You can reach The Old Music Shop easily by public transport or on foot. We are just a short walk from O’Connell Street, with multiple Dublin Bus routes stopping nearby, including services along Parnell Square and Dorset Street. The LUAS Green Line stop at Parnell is only a few minutes away, and taxis are readily available throughout the city. If you prefer driving, there is convenient public parking close to the restaurant.

Afternoon Tea FAQ

Do you offer Afternoon Tea? When is it served?

Yes, Afternoon Tea is served daily from 12:00-16:00 (last order at 16:00) in our Georgian dining rooms or on the garden terrace. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance for all the afternoon teas.

What does Afternoon Tea include?

A selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and a variety of cakes / miniature desserts with classic, vegetarian and children’s versions available, with unlimited tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Do you offer a Festive / Seasonal Afternoon Tea (e.g. Christmas / Holidays)?

Yes, during special seasons we often run a variety of Afternoon Teas such as Festive season, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day depending on the seasons and occasions.

Can dietary requirements (vegetarian / gluten-free / allergies) be accommodated?

Yes, we offer vegetarian options and are attentive to dietary requirements. However, we don’t accommodate for gluten-free or vegan afternoon teas.

Special Occasions, Events & Groups FAQ

Do you accept bookings for private events, groups or parties?

Yes, The Old Music Shop Restaurant hosts weddings, birthdays, family gatherings, and private events. Menus can be tailored to your needs. For bookings, please contact us directly so we can tailor menus and arrangements to your group size and requirements.

Can I book a dining room for a celebration or special occasion?

Yes, private rooms are available. We have four separate spacious rooms, perfectly designed for your specific needs. Rooms may differ in terms of its capacity. Please call ahead so we can arrange your requirements (number of guests, menu, special requests).

Practical & Accessibility FAQ

Do you have outdoor / terrace seating?

Yes, there is an outdoor terrace available: a courtyard garden-style rear terrace, offering a more relaxed dining environment.

Do you have Wi-Fi available?

Yes, the restaurant provides Wi-Fi for guests.

Is the restaurant wheelchair accessible, or do you accommodate mobility-impaired guests?

Given the restaurant’s central city location and historic building, access details may vary. For mobility-impaired guests or those needing assistance (parking, seating, etc.), we recommend calling ahead so we can help.

Do you accept gift vouchers or offer gift cards?

Yes, gift cards/vouchers are available here. They are valid for 5 years, great for gifts, special occasions, or treat days.

What should I wear / is there a dress code?

Dress is casual, come as you are. Fizzy dresses, relaxed outfits, smart-casual, all are welcome.

Extra "EDGE CASE" FAQ

What happens if I need to cancel or change my reservation?

We understand plans change — please call us as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate changes or cancellations. (Tip: especially around busy times like weekends or festive season.)

Can I bring my own cake / celebration cake to the restaurant?

Yes, with prior arrangement, you can bring a cake. We can provide plates/serving if requested. Please notify us when booking.

Are pets allowed (service dogs included)?

Service dogs are always welcome. For other pets, please contact us in advance.

Can I book for just a drink & dessert / coffee and cake (without a full meal)?

Absolutely. Our cakes, drinks and light-bite menus are ideal for afternoon coffee & cake visits.
